The Prophets' Song (TPS) was a free, turn-based text MMORPG played in a browser. Most players knew it as Trollscantsing, after its domain. It ran 3 servers (Stax, Lambe and Dro) and had 10 playable races split between the Light and the Damned. TPS is no longer an active game. Its successor is Agonia, which opened on 1 January 2019, after an earlier follow-up called Curse of Backdraft (2011).

If an old bookmark or forum link brought you here (including old stax.trollscantsing.com links), you're in the right place. This site is an unofficial fan archive. It isn't run by the original TPS team, and I bought the domain after it expired so the old links would lead somewhere useful.
Names and domains
People search for TPS under several names, which is part of why it's hard to find. They all point to the same game.
| Name or address | What it was |
|---|---|
| The Prophets' Song | The game's official name, usually shortened to TPS |
| Trollscantsing | What many players called the game, after its domain |
trollscantsing.eu | The game address in 2007, while it was in beta |
trollscantsing.com | Linked as the game's address by French player forums. Old links also point to stax.trollscantsing.com, the Stax server. |
theprophetssong.eu | The later game address, with character "Facts" pages per server |
forums.theprophetssong.eu | The community forums from late 2013, titled "Trollscantsing" |
| Staxx | A common spelling of Stax, one of the servers (often mistaken for a game title) |
Servers
| Server | What we know |
|---|---|
| Stax | The server most people mean by "Staxx". Light against the Damned. It had its own market and saloon boards, and guilds could own towns (the Light guild Heroes of Stax had 28 members and 1 town). |
| Lambe | Its own map, market and lounge. A big map where movement costs shaped how raids were planned. |
| Dro | Described on its forum board as the place where "light, undead, and damned races" met. |
Each server had a surface map plus underground levels. Players shared annotated maps of monster and ingredient locations for Stax and Lambe.
Races
TPS had 10 playable races, each with its own history and abilities:
| Race | Race |
|---|---|
| Human | Troll |
| Elf | Orc |
| Dwarf | Goblin |
| Halfling (players also said "hobbit") | Imp |
| Dark Elf | Ogre |

Fan resources
In November 2013, players listed the TPS sites that still existed. I haven't checked whether these still load, so they're listed as text:
Unchecked

Agonia: the successor to TPS
Agonia (agonialands.com) opened on 1 January 2019, and it's where the TPS community lives now. The old Trollscantsing forums even opened an Agonia board at launch, and it grew past 300 topics.
If you loved TPS, here's what's waiting:
- Faction war. 2 factions, the Fellowship and the Forsaken, raiding across the border in organized parties.
- Old friends. Plenty of old-time TPS players are already in Agonia, so you may well run into names you remember.
- Bugs fixed. The game has been patched a lot since launch, and a lot of the early rough edges are gone.
- A world players build. The map starts wild. Roads, towns and every piece of gear past your starting kit are crafted from resources players gather.
- Deep crafting and training. Tons of craft and weapon skills, and good crafters are in demand.
- 8 tribes to pick from, each with its own strengths, plus monsters from wasps and mammoths up to lava twirlers and dragons.
- Seasonal events that keep the world moving (the 2026 Easter event had players hunting cassowary eggs).
- Free for real. No pay-to-win and no ads, so the top players got there by playing.

3 tips before you start: read the quick start guide, since the first days are slow while you learn the rules. Use 1 account only, because multi-accounting is banned (2 accounts on the same IP count). And pick your name and tribe carefully, since characters can't be deleted.
